Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - A suspect who broke into a recording studio at the Maduluwawa Sri Sudharmarama Temple in Padukka and stole computers and recording equipment worth around Rs. 1.5 million has been arrested by Padukka Police.
Police launched an immediate investigation after a monk attached to the temple lodged a complaint. The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the Western Province Intelligence Unit.
The suspect, a 36-year-old father of two and a resident of Jayamuthugama, Watareka in Padukka, was taken into custody.
Police said that during questioning, the suspect admitted to selling the stolen equipment to another individual. Acting on the information provided, officers recovered all the stolen recording equipment from the buyer.
Police further stated that the suspect is reportedly addicted to “ice” (crystal methamphetamine) and was found in possession of the drug at the time of his arrest.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court, while further investigations are continuing by Padukka Police.
