Mahinda Deshapriya’s advise to youth - Learn how to do an Aragalaya first

Former Chairman of the Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya said that he opposed the campaign slogan that called to reject all 225 politicians.

"Everybody knows how I supported the Aragalaya and I even held a placard on my own. But they attacked houses of politicians on May 9 and they even came to attack my house," Deshapriya said.

"Therefore the youth should learn how to do an aragalaya first," he added.

All those who did it did not know how to do any projects? That is a joke ? They did make some mistakes and get the objective and intention of all those struggles are genuine and sincere..you have been election commissioner for many years but you did not object all those wrong doing while you are in your post ..you will be fired and even killed if you had gone against the political establishment in those days...we all know how politics works in Sri Lanka ..all MPs; all officials and all government servants must salute them in all times otherwise will be sacked ..people.want to change this political culture... Politicians are not above laws they have been appointed to serve the public so they are accountable and responsible to the public. Every citizens knew you also back to bring to Gota and family to power. We are not justify that whoever distort to property or houses but note there is a reason behind that. We know that you made a mistake by allowing GR. However, it was still not your mistake bcoz you, with your long years of experience in the field, knew well that most Sinhalese were supporting GR. The 6.9m who voted for a racist agenda of GR now come to blame you. Your mistake was that you did something that would satisfy the majority of the people but didn’t do why is right and beneficial for the country. If we all follow Buddhist principles in the right sense, the country wouldn’t have come to this point. 1. Do what is right 2. Be firm, even if you are in danger 3. Guide citizens based on principles from Buddhism...not your own version! I still self respect in every individual. As you see, Sinhalese leaders of the past never displayed good governance.
