MPs’ vehicle permits stopped during Gota’s time: D.V. Chanaka

Colombo, Nov. 13 (Daily Mirror) - Claiming that the government was bragging about stopping vehicle permits given to Parliamentarians, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP D.V. Chanaka said today MPs' vehicle permits were stopped by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2020.

He told Parliament that the Gotabaya Rajapaksa government took a decision to stop issuing vehicle permits to MPs in 2020 and that no MPs received permits after 2020.

The MP said only professionals such as doctors and engineers received the vehicle permits.

"We would like to ask Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Harini Amarasuriya and Vijitha Herath whether they got vehicle permits in 2020. The government is boasting about stopping MPs' vehicle permits. There is nothing for the government to stop as it had already been stopped," he said.
