MP Archchuna granted bail

Colombo, Sept. 29 (Daily Mirror) - MP Ramanathan Archchuna, who was arrested by Fort Police this morning (29), has been granted bail by the Fort Magistrate’s Court.

He was taken into custody after arriving at the station to give a statement in connection with an alleged obstruction of police duties.

The Magistrate ordered his release on bail with two sureties.

This damn culture of Police having the power to arrest anyone who make , two second , insult at the police should be stopped. They can beat up motorists and the public and nothing happens to them unless it is captured in a video. But when members of public make a slight insulting remark at the police the full force of the law is applied against them. I am not here to defend MP Aruchuna , who can not speak proper English and his English language pronunciation is next to taxi drivers English , but I am making a general point about the abuse of the law by the Police.
