Let’s build a just and prosperous society based on love: Sajith

Colombo, June 29 (Daily Mirror) - All Sri Lankans must strive towards building a just and prosperous nation through love instead of hatred, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said in his special message for Poson.

Premadasa said the following in his message:

Poson is an important milestone in Sri Lanka’s spiritual and religious history. It is the day when Arahath Mahinda gifted Buddhism to Sri Lanka. It is not only a religious festival but one that has changed the minds of people, society and the state. The dialogue which Arahath Mahinda had with King Devanam Piyatissa was based on these factors. It was also a spiritual revolution. This dialogue teaches us the fact that development is achieved though intelligence, dialogue and understanding instead of power and wealth.

It is important that Sri Lanka’s destination should be based on teachings of Buddhism which are kindness, care and truthfulness.
