Letters to admit O/L students to A/L classes won't be issued by ministry

The Education Ministry announced today that they will not issue letters to admit students for GCE Advanced Level (A/L) for those who have passed GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) as per subject streams.

They said the schools have been given permission for this through circulars.

Accordingly, the Zonal Education Director of that area can arrange to get a school where the relevant stream is available in the area where they live, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the ministry said that a new circular for admission of children to intermediate classes (except 1-6) would be issued in 2023.

As per the directive, by March 27 when the first term begins, notifications will be issued to those who wish to apply.

Until then, letters will not be issued by the Ministry to admit students to national schools for intermediate classes. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
