Technical background to minimise incidents relating to fraudulently obtaining fuel under the quota system by stealing QR codes of other people is underway, Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) Director Dasun Hegoda said.

He said appropriate action will follow in the future against such fraudulent recipients by the Power and Energy Ministry.

Therefore, the ICTA Director requested the national fuel pass users not to expose the QR code likely to be visible to others, to ensure that no one other than the holder uses it. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Very easy to handle this. By scanning the QR code it also must show the number plate.

Bar the fraudulent users of Q.R. code obtaining fuel for their vehicles for six months, plus 100000/= fine and 6 months jail sentence.

Action must also be taken against fuel pump attendants who pump extra for a fee. Is there no way to reconcile the total fuel pumped with QR codes. Some of our people are so dishonest but talk so much about system change!

And what about all the 48cc motorcycles??? No license need, no vehicle registration, so NO petrol now! What a stupid thing!!! I can only drive a 48cc because no need license and now i can not get any petrol at all! Good job!

Is it that difficult to to protect your own QR code? It is an ID, you are duty bound to protect it for your own good.
