Colombo, August 25 (Daily Mirror) - Health authorities today issued the latest update on the health condition of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
According to acting director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Pradeep Wijesinghe, the health condition of the former President has reached a “somewhat satisfactory” level, though it continues to be closely monitored.
“Specialist doctors in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are keeping Wickremesinghe under round-the-clock observation. While he is currently stable, his condition could still change,” Dr. Wijesinghe said.
A final decision on whether the former President will be fit to appear before court tomorrow will be taken after a medical board discussion this afternoon, Dr. Wijesinghe added.
The hospital has recommended that Wickremesinghe remain under strict medical supervision in the ICU until further notice.
“He is showing signs of stability, but the situation is being assessed daily. Only by this evening can we determine whether he is in suitable condition,” Dr. Wijesinghe said.
