Lanka IOC kicks off commercial operations of SL’s first grease plant

Lanka IOC (LIOC) PLC said it commenced commercial operations of Sri Lanka’s first grease manufacturing plant at LIOC Terminal in Trincomalee.

The facility with a 3, 000 MT per annum capacity is built with an investment of Rs.320 million.

The plant is expected to serve Sri Lanka’s entire grease requirement.

The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art grease testing laboratory equipment which will enable in-house testing of a wide variety of lithium-based grease to be produced.

“The equipment has been successfully installed with the presence of OEM-approved vendor representatives. The laboratory is now capable of performing in-house tests which are mandatory as far as delivery of finished quality goods in the stipulated market is concerned and catering to the entire local market demand for grease,” LIOC said.
“Once fully operational, this new venture will save invaluable foreign exchange for the country, thus adding to the country’s self-reliance,” the company added.
