LITRO gas price to be slashed from tonight

The prices of 12.5kg domestic LITRO gas cylinders will be reduced by Rs.204 from midnight today, LITRO Lanka Chairman and CEO Muditha Peiris said.

Accordingly, the new retail price of the 12.5kg gas cylinder will be Rs. 2,982.

The 5 kg gas cylinder will be reduced by Rs.83 and the new retal price will be Rs.1,198.

The 2.3 kg cylinder will be reduced by Rs.37 and the new retail price will be Rs.561.

All price reductions will affect from tonight, he said. Muditha Peiris said the reason for the large price reduction is due to several considerable reasons, such as the decrease of prices in the world market and also receiving a large stock of LP gas.

The price revision took place following collective efforts taken by the Finance Ministry, Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA), the Presidential Secretariat and LITRO Lanka Ltd., following new added features to the existing gas price formula. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Isn't it idiotic to fix the price of 12.5 kg at Rs 2982/ One has to go for the purchase with also a 02 cent coin ? Why not fix the price at Rs 3,000/ which will be convenient for the buyer and the seller.?
