Colombo, May 4 (Daily Mirror) - A candidate who is contesting the Local Government elections was arrested for raping an underage girl in Passara.

The 34-year-old suspect is a resident of Passara and contesting for the Passara Pradeshiyta Sabha.

He was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 14 years and six months old girl.

It is vital for the public to be aware about the political party of the rapist. Who is the hidden hand which supports his candidacy? Can the candidate still contest as a SLPP, UNP SLFP or SJBer after this. A previous Parliament even convicted murder, Perumal, got elected, and the SLPP influenced judges to get him free of the charges afterwards. Not even that is yet investigated!
