The price of a pack of Koththu & other short eats will be reduced by Rs. 10, the All Island Canteen Owners’ Association Head Asela Sampath said.

“It’s the responsibility of the consumer to speak to restaurant owners and negotiate the prices, as there is no mechanism to control prices in this country,” he added.

Was at the local bakery. The price of a standard (?) loaf of bread was Rs. 190. Asked the salesman and he replied “ The same price as yesterday “.

Oh a great reduction. Especially from those wayside eateries which pay huge taxes and employment benefits to workers. Not mentioning those illegal encroachment boutiques which even don't have a ground rent.
