Kendu leaves worth Rs. 15mn seized by Coast Guard

Over Rs.15 million worth of Kendu leaves were taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard during a special operation conducted in Katuneriya today (22nd January 2026).

During this operation, Coast Guard arrested a suspect and seized over 2,150 kilograms of Kendu leaves, a freezer lorry, and a motorcycle.

Siezed Kendu leaves along with the lorry, motor bike and the suspect were handed over to Katunayake Custom Preventive Office for further investigation and legal proceedings.
