At a glittering launch at Waters Edge at Battaramulla on Thursday, David Peiris Group of Companies and its partner Speed Bay introduced the Sodikart kart in Sri Lanka. It meant that karting will now feature what is said to be enhanced performance and improved safety with the participants eligible for the Sodi World Series according to its promoters who said it marked the beginning of a new era in motorsports in Sri Lanka.
For the first time, Sri Lankan drivers and motorsport enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience karts that are faster, more modern and engineered with cuttingedge technology to deliver worldclass performance according to the sport’s promoters.
The karts feature fully adjustable seats and pedals, allowing every driver to achieve a perfect ergonomic fit without the need for additional modifications while maintaining the highest levels of safety and comfort. All vehicles at Speed Bay Bandaragama Circuit will now be SODIKARTs and every driver will also be provided with race suits and gear, standardising the experience and raising the professionalism of karting in Sri Lanka.
The unveiling of the SODIKARTs was led by David Pieris, President of the David Pieris Group of Companies, Rohana Dissanayake, Group Chairman and Managing Director of the David Pieris Group of Companies, Eshan Pieris, Chairman of David Pieris Racing & Leisure and Alex Tawil, Director of Sodikart Asia.
