Colombo, July 25 (Daily Mirror) - The night mail train travelling from Colombo Fort to Kankesanthurai (KKS) derailed near Senarathgama Railway Station, causing disruptions to services on the Northern railway line.
According to the Railway Department, the train had stopped at Senarathgama Station and, while resuming its journey, two wheels of the locomotive derailed.
As a result of the incident, train operations on the Northern line have been affected. The night mail train travelling from Kankesanthurai to Colombo Fort has been curtailed and will operate only up to Anuradhapura.
Railway officials said a relief train has been dispatched to the site to re-rail the locomotive and restore normal operations. The department expects to complete the recovery work as quickly as possible.
