Johnston says Sampath Manamperi is not his coordinating secretary

Colombo, Oct. 5 (Daily Mirror) - Former Minister Johnston Fernando today (5) denied claims that Sampath Manamperi was serving as his Coordinating Secretary.

Speaking at a ceremony to present appointment letters to Kurunegala District Divisional Organisers of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), held under the leadership of the party’s National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa, he said that such allegations were false and defamatory.

Fernando further said he was prepared to take maximum legal action against those spreading such claims.

The Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court recently granted permission to detain and interrogate Manamperi—currently in remand custody—for 90 days.

He was arrested following the discovery of two containers of chemicals suspected to be used in the manufacture of the drug “ice.”
