Johnston Fernando appointed head of SLPP operations
Former Minister Johnston Fernando has been appointed as the Head of Operations of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), marking a significant development in the party’s internal leadership structure.
The appointment was made following a high-level meeting held at the official residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo.
Senior party members gathered to deliberate on the SLPP’s future direction amid shifting political dynamics.
During the meeting, key political strategies and upcoming decisions were discussed, with Fernando being entrusted with a central role in implementing them. As Head of Operations, he will oversee grassroots and district-level organisational activities, with a focus on strengthening the party’s outreach and mobilisation efforts across the country.
The move is seen as part of the SLPP’s efforts to consolidate its base and prepare for upcoming electoral challenges.
