Japan has agreed to provide emergency assistance to Sri Lanka as the country continues to grapple with widespread devastation caused by extreme weather conditions.
According to the Japanese government, an assessment team will be dispatched through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support Sri Lanka’s immediate relief and recovery efforts. The team will include medical officers who will evaluate the country’s urgent medical needs and coordinate the potential deployment of a Japanese disaster relief team.
In addition, Japan will provide essential emergency relief items—such as tents, blankets, and other supplies—through JICA to support families affected by flooding and landslides.
