Japan grants US$ 2.5 million to support Sri Lanka’s post-cyclone recovery



Colombo, Dec 17 (Daily Mirror) - Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath today accepted a grant of US$ 2.5 million from the Government of Japan to support Sri Lanka’s ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts following Cyclone Ditwah.

The grant was formally handed over by the Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, Akio Isomata. The assistance aims to strengthen post-disaster relief and rehabilitation initiatives in areas affected by the cyclone.

In addition to the financial support, Japan has also promptly deployed a Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Medical Team and provided emergency relief materials to assist affected communities.

Foreign Minister Herath expressed his appreciation to the Government and people of Japan for their continued support and solidarity with Sri Lanka during times of crisis.
