JVP protest march tear-gassed

Police fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse the JVP protest march at Town Hall a short while ago. The JVP protest march reached the Town Hall, Colombo despite the Court Order.

Police blocked the movement of the protest march at Town Hall and the police read out the court order to the protesters.

JVP leaders including its leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake participated in the protest. (Ajith Siriwardana)

    There is no point in getting teargassed. There is a simpler solution, every night from 7 pm to 10 pm all household should shut their lights off and come onto the road in front of their homes and sit on the road. If all the households do this Police cannot attack them.

    Nothing can stop this massive support for the JVP. All the steps taken by the weak Ranil rajapaksa government will be futile. Ranil must be quivering in his shoes when he sees the gigantic crowds.
