Issue with other inmates led to death inside remand prison: Minister

Colombo, May 8 (Daily Mirror) - The suspect who died recently while in remand prison has had issues with fellow inmates, Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara told Parliament today.

This person who was remanded for contempt of court after his phone rang inside the court room has had issues with fellow inmates,  Minister Nanayakkara said in response to a question raised by MP Chitral Fernando.

The Minister said he is currently continuing discussions with the Judicial Service Commission and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka on the contempt of court issue.

Also, he said investigations are being conducted to determine the cause of the suspect's death.
