Iran Embassy in Colombo opens condolence book



Colombo, March 3 (Daily Mirror) - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo has announced that a book of condolence will be opened following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In a diplomatic note, the Embassy informed Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, as well as diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Sri Lanka, of what it described as the “martyrdom” of the Supreme Leader during U.S. and Israeli attacks in Tehran on February 28.

According to the Embassy, the condolence book will be open at the Residence of the Ambassador at No. 222, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, on the following dates:

  •  Wednesday, March 4, 2026 – 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  •  Thursday, March 5, 2026 – 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  •  Friday, March 6, 2026 – 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The Embassy also stated that messages of condolence may be sent electronically to its official email address.
