International driving licence issuing counter at BIA prevents large scam: Minister



The international driving licence issuing counter at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) prevents a large scale scam where certain persons who claim to be brokers charge around USD 100 from foreigners for mediatiing to obtain international driving licences, Minister Bimal Ratnayake told Parliament today. 

Justifying the decision to open the counter at BIA further, the Minister said the counter at the airport is more convenient to foreigners." 

Foreigner have to spend one whole day at the Registry of Motor Vehicles Office (RMV) office in Piliyandala to obtain the licence.
