A group of eight Sri Lankan fishermen from the Kalpitiya and Kandakuliya areas have been arrested by the Indian authorities for trespassing into Indian sea limits.
A senior official of the Sri Lanka Navy said the fishermen concerned had entered Indian waters and engaged in fishing, only to be arrested by the Indian Coast Guard.
He said their four boats and fishing gear have been seized. (Hiran Priyankara Jayasinghe)
