Colombo, Sept. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Cricket coach and former captain Sanath Jayasuriya shared a heartfelt message following the passing of Suranga Wellalage, father of rising cricket star Dunith Wellalage.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Suranga Wellalage, a father, a cricketer, and a man who raised a son the entire nation is proud of.

Dunith, your father was a cricketer himself, and he can be truly proud of the son he raised. His values, his love for the game, and his spirit live on through you. I know how strong you are, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make him proud by winning many games for Sri Lanka.

At this difficult moment, please remember that you are not alone. I will be there for you like a father—guiding you, standing with you, and supporting you every step of the way. The entire team, the nation, and everyone who loves this sport are by your side.

This is beautiful. I saw one Facebook post about the passing of Dunith’s father, I did not see one comment without came from bottom of heart. That is how much people like Dunith. He must make sure he uses this love responsibly and stay grounded, train hard like Sanga, think strategically like Mahela, ply clinically and surgically like Aravinda attack fearlessly like Sanath and be humble like Marvan. Read well and be eloquent in three languages Sinhala, Tamil and English. You will lead Sri Lankan cricket team by 28 years and become the next legend.
