IRD opens e-service portal for 2025/2026 income tax returns

Colombo, July 6 (Daily Mirror) - The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has announced that its e-service platform is now open for the filing of Income Tax Returns for the Year of Assessment 2025/2026.

According to a public notice issued by the department, taxpayers can now submit their returns electronically under several categories, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Partnership Income Tax (PIT), and Individual Income Tax (IIT), as well as the IIT Simplified Return.

The IRD said that all income tax returns for the relevant assessment year must be submitted electronically through its e-service platform on or before November 30, 2026.

The department has urged taxpayers to ensure timely submission of their returns to avoid any inconvenience and to comply with statutory requirements.

The IRD has also advised taxpayers to visit its official website for updated information and guidance on the filing process.

The announcement comes as the tax authority continues its efforts to expand digital services and improve tax administration under its "Taxes – For a Better Future" initiative.
