COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe called the suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC) illegal, saying that the body had not followed the correct procedure before suspending Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
As an immediate measure he said he would approach the ICC to understand the nature of the suspension, failing which he would take steps to approach the body's Dispute Resolution Committee. "If that fails too, we will go to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS)," he added.
He also alleged that the officials at SLC had asked for the suspension to be imposed, though he stopped short of validating these claims.
"The ICC have taken this decision arbitralally. We don't know on what basis this suspension had been imposed. Normally there is a long proceure before a team is suspended, with the decision taken at the Annual General Meeting where all member countries vote on it," the Minister said.
"However, they have not followed that procedure and the suspension is not ethical," he claimed.

In the new sports law there has to be a clause that all SLC matters should be dealt through an appointed panel of lawyers from the ministry only. As much the board, the current board lawyers are worried as much because their looted income getting slashed if this board goes.

Minister is correct here. Icc should be taken in to an international court if they do not remove the suspension within certain number of days and also ask for compensation for tarnishing the image. You should send a letter of demand to Jay Sha the corrupt individual who is just 35 y old without any experience and using his fathers powers who is a politicians in bjp to act like a joker. Nothing to worry icc got caught red hande here. Why no ban on afg then. Armed gang is running the country. Ban that also then. Dear Minister of Sports; You know very well ICC suspended SLC at the request of SLC. Do not plead with ICC to lift the suspension. Now that the SLC is suspended, remove the corrupt SLC Executives, hold elections under a new constitution, and conduct free and fair elections for Executive positions of a clean SLC.
