Colombo, July 3 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo High Court rejected a preliminary objection raised by the defense, challenging the maintainability of the indictment filed against Nadun Chinthaka, alias 'Harak Kata' and two other accused, who are charged with conspiring to escape from the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Rejecting the preliminary objection, the judge held that the charges filed by the Attorney General under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) against the accused can be lawfully tried before the High Court.

Court also observed that there had been no procedural errors in the filing of the indictment. The case was fixed for trial on August 5.
