Colombo, March 27 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Tilakaratne recused himself from hearing the case against Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who is accused of laundering Rs. 70 million through the Krrish transaction.

Following his recusal, the case was transferred to High Court No. 6 and later reassigned to High Court No. 1.

However, after further proceedings, the case was postponed to May 21, following a request by both parties.

Judge Tilakaratne stated in open court that he decided to step down from the case due to a social perception that his court would not be able to ensure fair justice in the matter.

Judge Tilakaratne cited that the comments made on Facebook by Sanath Balasuriya and Poddala Jayantha, which, in his view, had created doubts about the impartiality of the proceedings.

Consequently, the case was referred to Colombo Chief High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige to appoint a suitable judge for the hearing.
