Heavy showers forecast in most parts of island today: Met. Dept.

The Meteorology Department said heavy showers are expected to increase over most parts of the island due to low level atmospheric disturbances.

While issuing a weather forecast for today, they said cloudy skies could be seen over most parts of the country.

More than 75 mm of rain is expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Northern provinces, as well as the North-Central and Southern provinces. There would be showers during this afternoon or night.

Therefore, the general public are advised to take necessary precautionary measure to safeguard themselves from harm caused by gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
