Heavy showers forecast in Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Kalutara: Met. Dept

Heavy showers above 75 mm could be expected today in the southern, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces and in Kalutara district, the Meteorology Department said.

They also said that there could be thundershowers in the southern, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, western, central, and northwestern provinces during the afternoon or at night.

Meanwhile, showers could also be expected in the Eastern Province and in the Polonnaruwa district.

 Therefore, the general public is advised to take adequate precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from possible damages may be caused by gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Moreover, they said thundershowers are forecast in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Matara via Batticaloa, Pottuvil, and Hambantota. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
