Heavy rains in Nuwara Eliya

Colombo, April 3 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy thunder showers were experienced in several areas in the Nuwara Eliya district last evening, much to the relief of the people who had been affected by the prolonged dry weather and intense heat.

Three individuals in the Labukele area, walking near an Eucalyptus tree, received minor injuries when lightning struck the tree.

The dry weather has affected the vegetable and tea cultivations and created a shortage of drinking water as well.
