Heavy rainfall over 100mm on the cards

Colombo, Oct. 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has warned of showers in most parts of the island with heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm expected in several areas.

According to the Department, particularly heavy showers are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces.

The public has been urged to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damages caused by heavy rain, strong winds, and severe lightning during thundershowers.

Furthermore, authorities have also advised those living in low-lying areas and near water bodies to remain alert for possible flooding and lightning-related incidents.
