Colombo, May 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds across several parts of the island over the next 36 hours.
According to the forecast issued at 4.00 , showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Certain areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has also warned of strong winds, with gusts reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Elsewhere across the country, fairly strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph can be expected at times.
