Colombo, June 7 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has forecast continued showers and thunderstorms across several parts of the country, with heavy rainfall and strong winds expected in some areas.
According to the latest weather advisory, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
“Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya,”
Meanwhile, a few showers are also expected in the Anuradhapura District.
The Met Department further warned that strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph may prevail at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
“Fairly strong winds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph are also expected across other parts of the island,”
