Heat alerts issued for several districts

Colombo, Sept. 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has warned of hot weather in the North-Central and Eastern provinces, and in Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Monaragala districts.

Amber heat alerts have been issued for eight districts starting tomorrow (01 October).

The department said the Heat Index—the temperature people actually feel—may reach the ‘Caution level’ in some areas. 

People are warned that staying outside for long periods could cause tiredness, and heavy activity may lead to heat cramps.
