The country will be reopened on October 1 under certain restrictions, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today.
He made this statement to media after an event at the Base Hospital in Nawalapitiya today
“We have been keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 situation in the country. There is a sharp decline in COVID cases and hospitalization at present,” he underscored.
“In addition, Sri Lanka is among the top four countries which has been able to vaccinate majority of its people,” he emphasised.
In such a backdrop, the Minister said he was hoping that the country could be reopened on October 1; nevertheless, the final decision would be taken on September 30. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
