Hasaranga wins ICC Player of the Month award for June
Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was named the ICC's Player of the Month for June, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced.
Hasaranga beat out Australia's Travis Head and Zimbabwe's Sean Williams, after his stellar bowling performances last month.
“I am extremely happy with this award, and it comes at an important moment for Sri Lanka Cricket, after we made it to the Cricket World Cup in India. I am privileged and honoured to have been chosen as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month,” Hasaranga said.
Hasaranga took 26 wickets, averaging 10 runs a dismissal, and equalled Waqar Younis' record of three consecutive ODI five-wicket hauls.
