Hi everyone,

I am happy to inform you that my surgery to repair the defect in my hamstring muscle/tendon was a success, thanks to the brilliant work of Prof. Fares Haddad and the amazing hospital staff.

I will be out of action for awhile but I look forward to coming back stronger for my Country.

I am grateful for the efforts of Thihan chandramohan our National Physio, Sri Lanka Cricket, the ever so efficient Sri Lanka Medical Panel, my IPL Franchise RCB's Management, Shyam Impett and Will Quinn from my Management Team, for the assistance and support during this difficult time of my career. Your support to complete my surgery successfully is appreciated.

Vindya my beautiful wife, a big thank you for being my strength and pillar to lean on during this time. I am grateful to you.

Sincere thanks to my Family and extended family along with everyone else who stood by me and encouraged me throughout this process.

I will see you soon.

Big comeback to the country. My bloody foot. Trying to rest for the IPL. SLC mustnt allow him to play IPL. If he opts to play IPL then should be chased off from our eleven.

India seems to be in hurry for his surgery so he is definitely out of action for next 2 -3 months , our cricket board risked our best player for all important LPL,they all work as a single unit for $

Showman, highly overrated, hardly contributes to the national team. Good luck anyway with your next IPL stint, will bring lots of dollars for yourself.

Corrupt and clueless, the Sri Lankan cricket board will soon destroy young prospect Matheesha Pathirana by overplaying him in the longer format. Shame, shame shame !!

Maybe the guy felt bad and wanted to show he is actually in hospital. Well U can rest and be prepared for the next IPL. Well when the country itself is fooling it's citizens who are you right??? U are just another ordinary citizen living to earn and live a good life .. rest well putha rest well.

Yes for the most important IPL.

Tissa Fernando Wednesday, 11 October 2023 08:47 AM

He played too much cricket for IPL and got injured right at the time of the world Cup. Sri Lanka is likely to get eliminated in the first round.

    Terrence K Wednesday, 11 October 2023 09:23 AM

Why on earth did the Sri Lanka Cricket Board risk some of Sri Lanka star players knowing very well that the World Cup would be played in October thus caring a damn for the country. While Sri Lanka has been devastated by our poor performance due to some wicket takers having injuries consequent to allowing them to participate in other countries by this our image has been totally tarnished and brought down to rock bottom! who is going to foot the bill and erase the blemishes which have been written in golden letters of cricketing history.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave Alwis Wednesday, 11 October 2023 11:48 AM

Yes you will recover when IPL is near. No use for the country.

You have let down the nation, now what? Who cares,? Go to hell. Or was it a fix???

    Gamlath Wednesday, 11 October 2023 09:40 PM

    Stay in India. Dont come

LPL causes too much injury to local players Thursday, 12 October 2023 05:51 AM

For God's sake why did SLC ever put up the LPL. It's tiring and injuring our players too much. SLC is ever greedy for dollars through TV rights, so it will do nothing for local cricket ,but just destroy our talent. We need government action against SLC to prevent further badness like more LPLs.
