Harsha submits motion in Parliament to protect Diyagama Forest

Colombo, Jan. 22 (Daily Mirror) - MP Harsha de Silva today submitted a motion to protect the Diyagama Forest, a patch of rainforest in Homagama.

"Submitted a Private Member’s Motion in Parliament to urgently protect Diyagama Forest – one of the last lowland rainforest patches near Colombo in Homagama. This is the home to ~50 endangered Red Slender Loris, Fishing Cat, Purple-faced Langur + over 220 species. Vital flood buffer for communities via Bolgoda River," De Silva said in his latest X message.

"Threatened by clearance for sports complex/hostels – we must halt it now via a  gazette under Wildlife Conservation Dept for strongest protection. For biodiversity, climate resilience, our future – let's save it," he added.
