Hand grenade found in Anuradhapura rape suspect’s house

Colombo, March 14 (Daily Mirror) - A live hand grenade of a foreign make has been recovered from the house of the suspect in custody in connection with the rape of a lady doctor in the Anuradhapura Hospital. 

Police said during interrogation of the suspect under a 48-hour detention order, he revealed that he had in his possesion a hand grenade.

The hand grenade had been hidden in a bag with an  onamental fan “Watapatha” and a bowl used by Buddhist monks in a deserted house at Elapara in Galnewa.
