Colombo, June 7 (Daily Mirror) - On this sacred day, our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka and around the world celebrate the Hajj festival with deep devotion, undertaking the holy pilgrimage in a spirit of unity, brotherhood, and coexistence rising above self-interest and embracing shared values.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that this year’s Hajj holds particular significance, as it is being celebrated under a government committed to the same vision and guiding principles.
She noted that the government is dedicated to ensuring the fair distribution of resources for all citizens and to building an altruistic and inclusive society.
The Hajj tradition, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail in obedience to God, is a profound expression of sacrifice and faith in Islam. It serves as a reminder of devotion, humility, and submission to a higher purpose.
The Hajj pilgrimage, where Muslims from around the world unite in fulfilling their religious duties and praying for global peace, stands as a powerful symbol for all humanity.
With hope for a future defined by peace, justice, and compassion and with the aspiration for a united nation that transcends ethnic and religious divisions—I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Muslim devotees for a blessed and joyful Eid al-Adha.
