Australia's social media ban for children under 16, which took effect in December 2025, does NOT BAN general internet access or all online activity, but specifically restricts access to 10 major, high-risk social media platforms. The law mandates that platforms take reasonable steps to prevent users aged 15 and under from holding accounts, aiming to protect them from harmful content. Decrepit Gammanpillayan says other countries ban youngsters access to ENTIRE internet without knowing the selective action of other countries.
