State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday an investigation had been launched to find out how Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hisbullah’s son had managed to obtain shares worth Rs.500 million in the controversial Batticaloa Campus.
He said this in response to a question asked by United National Party (UNP) MP Hesha Withanage in parliament yesterday.
MP Withnage said Governor Hisbullah’s son has obtained shares worth Rs. 500 million in this University which has been set up on a grant.
The state minister said the campus was under the purview of the Higher Education Ministry. “I believe that there is an investigation in this regard,”

About time our government take a hard look at the East. The east will be conducting its own Sharia courts in the coming years unless, the government cancel the so called “Sharia” university for good!
