Colombo, Oct. 8 (Daily Mirror) - The government has rolled out a new Ministerial Results Framework for 22 line ministries and affiliated institutions to strengthen results-based management in the public sector over the period 2025–2029.
Developed by the Department of Project Management and Monitoring of the General Treasury, the framework aligns with the current administration’s policy priorities and seeks to ensure that each ministry achieves its development targets within specified timelines.
The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and coordination among ministries, ensuring that public projects deliver tangible results while improving public confidence in government-led investments.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, to institutionalize results-based management across the public sector.
Under the new system, each ministry’s Ministerial Results Framework will be integrated with its annual action plan and budget strategy to ensure consistency in planning, monitoring, and implementation.
