Colombo, March 04 (Daily Mirror) -  Governor of the Uva Province A.J.M. Muzammil today said his son Mohammad Isham Jamaldeen will not evade arrest but will present himself before police tomorrow.

“My son is not absconding. He has informed the police that he will appear before them on or before Tuesday. The police have accepted that the story that he is absconding is far from the truth,” Muzammil told the Daily Mirror.

Police launched an investigation to arrest Mohammad Isham Jamaldeen over an alleged assault on a young woman at an apartment complex in Havelock Town.

Police said Jamaldeen had assaulted the woman during the early hours of Saturday, and she was admitted with injuries to a private hospital.

The entire family are known to be good people and exemplary citizens, they refrain from all vices such as womanizing, smoking, drinking and gambling. Sure this must be a political set up. You can never see these family members in a nightclub or casino in Sri Lanka.

So all those who have a warrant for arrest can give there date and time of convenience to surrender. Is this what you practise and teach your children also being a governor. Do you have even a slight respect to resign?

If he will not evade arrest, what has he been doing all these days. And if the Governor is now becoming his spokes person he seems to be complicit in the accused's attempt to absconded thus far. Now that he could not gain safe passage out of the country, perhaps a few days is needed to cook up a foolproof story. Let's wait and see, he may even produce an alerbye.

He was wanted days ago. If he has been dodging arrest all these days he has been abandoning thus far. Hope that will be taken into account in any bail appeal from the accused.
