Colombo, January 8 (Daily Mirror) - The government is ready to give priority in Parliamentary business to the no-confidence motion on Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya as per Standing Orders, Leader of the House Bimal Rathnayake said today.

Responding to a question raised by Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilake, as to why the Parliamentary Business Committee to schedule business of the next Parliamentary sitting has not been fixed for this week, he told Parliament that the Parliamentary Business Committee will not be held during sitting days this week as the government is waiting for two court decisions on two legislatures and is also waiting for the no-confidence motion being prepared by the Opposition, as it should be given priority as per the Standing Orders.

MP Karunathilake said it is the normal practice to hold the Parliamentary Business Committee meeting during sitting days and it should be followed as MPs must be given ample time to prepare for the debates.

Rathnayake said the Business Committee will be scheduled with sufficient time for the MPs to prepare for the debates for the next sitting week.
