Government must be protected until objectives of forming it achieved: Tilvin
Colombo, April 5 (Daily Mirror) - Claiming that it is not possible to deveolp the country and change the society in a day, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva said today the government must be protected until the objectives of forming the government are achieved.
Speaking at the commemoration of "April Heroes Day" in Vavuniya, he said the National People’s Power(NPP) government was formed with the support of the people across the country to change the previous system and bring in a new system.
He said it is not an easy task to change the 76 year-old system while changing the old laws, institutional framework and the mechanisms.
Silva said some countries in the world such as Singapore and China took about 10 to 25 years to change those countries.
"It takes years to change the entire society. We need to protect the government until we achieve the objectives of forming the government. We cannot finish the work within five years," he said.
