Government committed to equal service for all citizens: Minister

Colombo, October 5 (Daily Mirror) - Past governments, whether from the North or based in Colombo, had failed to provide equal services to all citizens, Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister and Leader of the House of Parliament, Bimal Ratnayake, said.

Addressing a public meeting at Kurikadduwan Junction yesterday (4) to officially launch the development of the Kayts–Kurikadduwan Jetty access road in the Velanai Divisional Secretariat Division of Jaffna District, he said the current government treats every ethnic group—Sinhalese, Tamil, and Muslim—fairly, without distinction between the North and the South.

He added that the government’s mandate from the people of both the North and the South is to ensure fairness and equal treatment for all citizens.

The development of the Kayts–Kurikadduwan Jetty access road is being carried out under the ‘Path to Revival’ National Program, supervised by the Road Development Authority and implemented under the leadership of the Transport Ministry.

The government has allocated Rs. 299 million for the project, which is expected to be completed within nine months, with the road scheduled to open to the public on July 3, 2026.
