Colombo, Feb 11 (Daily Mirror) - The government has approved recruitment to fill 7,456 vacant posts as recommended by the Committee for Public Service and Staff Management, Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.
Addressing the media, he said that the recruitment process was made based on essential requirements approved at the meeting held on December 30, 2024, for the appointment of officers.
The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, was tasked with assessing the necessary recruitments based on requirements, priorities and time frames by reviewing the government sector recruitment process.
Accordingly, the committee has recommended the recruitment of 3,000 vacant posts for the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government. Additionally, nine vacant posts have been allocated to the Ministry of Defence, 179 to the Ministry of Science and Technology, 132 to the Ministry of Finance, Plan Implementation and Economic Development, and 400 for the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
Furthermore, 161 vacant posts have been approved for the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, 3,519 for the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, 34 for the Western Provincial Council, five for the Eastern Provincial Council, and 17 for the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission.
